Biography

A native of Wheaton, Illinois, William "Bill" Gordon is a Certified Financial Planner ® as designated by the CFP Board of Standards. This is an internationally recognized designation culminating two years of Masters level studies in Investment Planning, Income Tax Planning, Estate Planning, Retirement Benefits and Ethics. He is a graduate of the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado, and has earned the following NASD professional licenses:

  • Series 7 (General Securities)
  • Series 24 (Principal)
  • Series 63 (Uniform Blue Sky)
  • Life/Health/Variable Annuity License through the Florida Department of Insurance.

Bill entered the financial planning field with Metropolitan Life in 1989 following a decade as a staff reporter and copyeditor for the St. Petersburg Times and Tampa Tribune. The transition may have seemed bold, but Bill, who is a graduate of Journalism and Communications from the University of Florida saw it as a natural progression.

"The first step toward helping people fulfill their financial goals is helping them understand the process, which requires being both a good listener and a good communicator," he said.

Bill's financial planning practice specializes in helping retired and pre-retired individuals. As president of Retirement Wealth Resources, Inc., he pays particular attention to the concept of wealth preservation. "From the point you stop working and start using your savings to live on," he said"preservation is the most important financial issues." His retirement seminars emphasize this point while incorporating advanced concepts in tax, investment and estate planning.

Bill, his wife Laura, a St. Petersburg native, and their son Mathew live in Tarpon Springs. Bill is an honorary lifetime member of the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch and is active in area youth sports.
